Alissa is pursuing a research master’s degree in Media Studies, with a specialization in New Media and Digital Culture, at the University of Amsterdam. She has obtained her certificate in Chinese Language and Culture at JiaoTong University. Furthermore, she did her BA at Utrecht University in Media and Culture. Her professional aspiration is to dedicate herself to conducting social research concerning the digital media sector. She primarily contributed to the technology research and descriptions, data analysis and visualizations.

Madeline is doing a Research Master’s in New Media & Digital Culture at the University of Amsterdam. She did her BA in Cultural Studies and Comparative Literature and American Studies at the University of Minnesota, focusing on service economy labor politics and environmental justice initiatives. Her main research interests are biometric workplace technologies, platform labor, and law enforcement surveillance. She primarily contributed to the introduction, the technology research and descriptions, and the State/Region/Division technology and vendor data analysis.

Yu Sang is currently a second-year research master in Media Studies at the University of Amsterdam, with a specialization in Television and Cross-Media Culture. Her research interests are in the intersection of environmental media, infrastructure studies, and urban studies. Prior to pursuing her Master’s degree, Yu completed a Bachelor of Science in Interactive Media Art at New York University, where she was involved in several research projects related to urban design and public art. She contributed to the data collection, cleaning, website development, and data visualization.

Jasmin is currently a second-year research master student in Media Studies specializing in New Media & Digital Culture at University of Amsterdam, where she also completed her BA in Media & Culture. Her main research interests include digital activism, misinformation studies and open source intelligence investigations and further digital methods. Jasmin contributed to the project with the focus on vendors: from cleaning the dataset and collecting additional data on the shareholders, to performing individual research/investigations into the surveillance vendors.

Yassine is currently graduating from his Master Studies in New Media & Digital Culture at the University of Amsterdam. He also completed his BA in European Studies & International Relations at the same establishment. His research interests revolve around Social Media Platform Studies and digital activism, Yassine contributed to the project by focusing primarily on the vendors and their relationship with each of the surveillance technologies and with its visualization.
